CYBER RISK AND DATA SCIENCE FROM AN ETHICAL VIEW!
Information and communication technology (ICT) development has greatly enhanced the way we communicate, conduct business, and access information. However, with the increasing use of ICT, there is also an increased risk of security threats. The following are some of the potential risks associated with ICT development:
- Cybersecurity threats: Cyberattacks such as hacking, phishing, and malware can compromise the security of computer systems and networks, leading to data breaches and theft of sensitive information.
- Data privacy breaches: With the increasing amount of data being stored and transmitted electronically, there is a greater risk of data privacy breaches. These can occur due to inadequate security measures, accidental disclosure, or intentional theft.
- Social engineering attacks: Social engineering attacks use psychological manipulation to trick individuals into divulging sensitive information or performing actions that compromise security.
- Insider threats: The risk of insider threats, where employees or contractors misuse or abuse their access to sensitive information, is also a significant concern.
To mitigate these risks, organizations and individuals should take steps such as implementing strong cybersecurity measures, regularly updating software, using strong passwords, conducting regular security audits, and providing ongoing security training to employees.
