Frequently Asked Questions
A VPS is a dedicated private server that runs on a virtualized platform. With the added layer of virtualization, host hardware maintenance and upgrades are seamless. Upgrading your VPS RAM or CPU can be done the same day with minimal downtime.
A VPS is normally available the same day, during business hours.
By default public VPS’ses are allocated a bandwidth of 10/10Mbps synchronous. This can, ofcourse, be upgraded.
As of now, we offer self managed VPS’ses without a control panel.
Datasur does provide a daily backup of the VPS by default.
We will need sizing and technical information such as:
- number of CPU cores
- amount of RAM
- disk size(s)
- the preferred Operating System.
- For existing customers the IP-range/VLAN eventually.
A VPS adds an extra layer of administrative capability compared to web hosting. This additional layer allows customers more freedom to choose what application packages they prefer to install.
In short, the client is more in control of their environment.
There are standard (Basic, Premium, Gold) and custom SLAs.
All public VPS’es are secured behind a firewall with standard security.
Additional security is available as a service. Private VPS’es can be connected through (private) WAN connections.
