SSL/SLT CERTIFICATES ANNOUNCEMENT
We would like to inform you that effective March 15, 2026, the maximum validity period for SSL/TLS certificates will be reduced to 200 days as part of an industry-wide security update. Please note that there is no need to purchase a new certificate after 200 days. You may simply reissue your existing certificate at any time during the year to obtain the remaining validity of your original one-year term. At this time, no pricing changes have been communicated. We will inform customers directly should any pricing adjustments occur.
Industry-Wide Changes to SSL/TLS Certificate Lifecycles
To enhance global online security standards, SSL/TLS certificate validity periods will be reduced in phases:
- March 15, 2026 – Maximum validity reduced from 398 days to 200 days
- March 15, 2027 – Further reduction to 100 days
- March 15, 2029 – Final enforcement of a 47-day maximum validity
This proposal was introduced by Apple, endorsed by Sectigo, and approved under Ballot SC-081v3. The change is supported by major browsers and certificate authorities worldwide. Although certificates may still be purchased for one year, the issued validity period will gradually shorten according to the above timeline.
What This Means for Your Organization
- Certificates will need to be renewed more frequently.
- Manual renewal processes will carry higher operational risk.
- Automation will become increasingly important to prevent service interruptions and browser security warnings.
